Would Give it 4 1/2 Stars If I Could
I purchased this for use with my trusty Treo 650 smartphone, before a plane/rental car trip. (We have been totally spoiled by the nav system in our new car, and I wanted that kind of confidence while tooling around L.A.) The Tom Tom worked great. It’s easy and intuitive to use, and the maps are detailed and very legible. My only gripe is that it often seemed to take a full two minutes to link up with the satellite, and I was unsuccessful in training my spouse to wait until the little green light was blinking before setting off (and in fairness, when you’re in a parking garage, you have no choice). This leads to having to choose an initial direction before the GPS knows where you are. There is no such delay in our car-based nav system, so I think this could be better. Other than that one gripe, I was very pleased with the system. It makes a great partner to the Treo–when it came time to go home, we knew we had to ship some things we had picked up along the way. I texted “ups store anaheim ca” to Google (46645), got the addresses, and plugged two of them into Navigator to see which was on our way to the airport. It guided us to the chosen location (and then on to LAX) without a hitch. I even downloaded Eddie Izzard’s voice (from his own website) to liven up the audio guidance: “Thank God you’re there! I can shut up now.” The Tom Tom was a great addition to this trip, and I’m sure many more to come.

Good GPS with Dell X51V PDA
I’ve been using the product for three months.

Pros: The software is easy to navigate and intuitive to use. The Tom Tom Bluetooth GPS unit connected very easily to my Dell X51V. Plenty of points of interest and easy to understand map and voice instructions.

Cons: On occassion the routes it chooses don’t make sense. I know this because I frequently use the GPS even when I know where I am going. There are two particular routes I take that is stubbornly wants to make me go the very long way, over 20 minutes out of the way, even though the fastest route is a major highway.

Overall, I like this product very much. Unlike the Garmin GPS10 Bluetooth unit I had before (which is horrible, don’t buy it), this product is very reliable and the software and communications works every time. If you are going to use a GPS and PDA combo, this is a good choice.

Don’t buy. No longer supported by TomTom!
I’ve been using this software for a number of years and love it.

Via the PC “TomTom Home” program, TomTom will offer you an updated map to buy. Beware, this dates from 2007. There are no newer maps available, nor will there be as TomTom have ceased all support for this version.

There is no new version that will run on my HP IPAQ so I have to buy a new SatNav or put up with old maps.

so far, so good
This computer is working well. I was skeptical about buying it, since my laptop was not even a year old, but I’m glad I made the change. It’s very fast – almost instant on. The Touchsmart feature is not too practical. The 22″ screen is more comfortable several feet away. Can’t reach the screen, so I optimized it for the mouse. I did look at the Touchsmart software and found it of little interest. The large screen is very practical for my needs, though. I have plenty of table space right in front of me, rather than filling it with computer.

The cordless keyboard works very well. Lot of times the cordless equipment doesn’t keep up with my typing. Love the larger delete key. The mouse is a bit stiff, but it operates mouse-intensive games fine.

All my software and wireless printer set up easily, as did internet connections. The little cover on the ports is a bit difficult to remove and replace. The shiny finish is quite a dust enhancer. Somewhere the black frame got scratched at the bottom of the screen right in the middle.

I like the HP Pocket Media plug-in backup drives. The HP website shows the drive as an accessory to the 500 series Touchsmart. I phoned their sales people twice to ask about drive capacity and where the drive was inserted into this unit, and both confirmed the PC had a slot in the top, so I ordered the 500gb drive from HP at the same time I ordered the PC from Amz. PC arrived, and there is no slot. Another call to HP revealed that only the 800 series accommodates this drive. So I have to attach it via USB. The whole idea of the Pocket Media is that they slide right into their own slots in the PCs for which they are made. I found it interesting that both the people and the website at HP were sloppy about this accessory. HP is very generous about returns, but I wanted the larger capacity drive, so I kept it. By the way, this is the second HP computer I’ve had for which these plug-in drives were misrepresented on their website. First time it happened, a couple computers ago, I could not get anybody to acknowledge the error and correct the site.

Lemon?
I realize once in a blue moon, a lemon comes off the line. Perhaps this is one of the Lemons of the 524 series. I’ve had nothing but problems with it. 1st…it will not eject the disk loaded…unless I remove the back panel (something HP Tech told me to do the night I brought it home…a brand new machine and I’m taking it apart already!) It will NOT burn CDs…perhaps one if 5 is playable again…the other four are junk.

And although HP on line has been of some help, I’m returning this for the first time….and I hope the last time.

This cost nearly $1300….and I believe right now I could have found a much better machine for much less cost.

Perfect for my grandparent, avoid if advanced user
We were looking to buy my grandparent their first computer to introduce them to email and the internet. So far, this has been a great choice. The built in TouchSmart software provides an easy, graphical way to launch programs with a simple touch. The screen is huge and very clear, another thing we looked for. While a netbook could have run a browser and an email client-about all we’ll ever need-the features on this computer could not be friendlier to a novice user. I would fully endorse it for what we needed.
That said, I would not recommend it to an advanced user unless their only specification was the touch capability (which is very sensitive and well integrated). The TouchSmart software isn’t as smooth as I would expect and feels somewhat rushed to production if not a bit buggy. For example, if you push the windows key while it is running you get a floating user icon and nothing else. It is hard to differentiate between scrolling and selecting. I quickly became frustrated with it as I configured it. But then I suppose most advanced users would have little use for this feature anyways, so I would not consider this a deal-breaker.
Overall, very sharp display, very easy to use, good use of touch technology, bad built in software.

Pages cut out
This individual had pages at the end of chapters cut out and they didn’t have the decency to at least put them where they belong. Upon getting the book I had to spend about 30minutes placing the cut-out pages where they belonged. If I wasn’t already late in purchasing that book for school, I would have returned it immediately.

Good Book, Horrible Transaction.
This book is very interesting and has ALOT of wonderful information, but when I bought this book, it was listed as “like new” when I received the book the covers and spine were completly removed from the book and a note accompanied the book saying “this is how I got the book”, so now this book will have to become a perminent part of my collection since I cannot ethicly sell this book back to someone else as I intended.

When delivered, the binding of this book was coming off. I was very disappointed in Amazon.com and am afraid to order in the future.

Warm, Fresh, Clean…
Three words: Warm, Fresh, Clean! That is the best way to describe this wonderful cologne. It starts out very crisp and fresh with subtle citrus notes, then warms to the beginning of the name, Vetiver. The Vetiver lingers with very subtle hints of bergamot settling into a very light, yet still warm and clean note of vetiver. This scent lasts all day for me!

Timeless Classic
I’m quite fond of colognes and pride myself on wearing ones which are unique and distinct. Creed Original Vetiver is one such cologne. An orchestra of clean, fresh scents, Original Vetiver is the type of cologne which lasts all day, as opposed to having to be reapplied regularly. What’s more, as it is more of an exclusive/uncommon scent, it’s nice being different than the masses and receiving so many compliments. No wonder this was JFK’s signature scent! Although it’s undeniably a masculine scent, considering there are very few feminine scents which incorporate vetiver notes without being too overwhelming, I easily understand why women find Original Vetiver so appealing. More importantly, at over half of what I paid for my first bottle (it’s only available at Neiman Marcus here in Houston for $240) this is certainly a fantastic buy!

Love it
I was shocked to find out that I could get this 250.00 bottle on Amazon for almost 1/2 price. It’s a fovorite of mine and my boyfriends who this was given this as an Xmas present. It is 100% authentic, which i was a little concerned about. I will be forever faithful to Amazon…lol.

I’ve bought 2 now and would by a third if needed
I had to buy a second one becuase the 1st one went with the boat when it sold and then I purchased the 2nd.
These fish finders work great, amazing clarity. Easy to find menu operations, it also works with my Garmin GPS, which is another added benefit. Screen is visible in all light. I also like to be able to identify the size of fish under the boat, whether it be herring balls or candle fish on the bottom, it’s all quite detailed. This also is the first fishfinder that I’ve owned that has water temperature, as I’ve learned the fish are particular about shade and water temperature. More fish in the boat because of it.

Happy Boater
When the Garmin arrived I was concerned as I was changing out a 12 year old hummingbird fishfinder. This meant I would have to pull wire and set up a new transducer. The plans were simple and the job easy. This color fish finder with a high freq. transducer is working just fine. We are happy with it.

When the first carton was delivered UPS had destroyed it and sloppily taped it togeather. the Garmin carton inside looked OK but we Emailed Amazon and the product was re-shipped. We shipped the first product back. This was a customer service support that went smoothly.

Good quality printer, great output
I got this color laser printer to replace a Samsung CLP-315W which was junk (I reviewed it too). The 1650EN is connected via ethernet to a network of Macintosh computers. It has a nice small footprint. It is very quiet in sleep mode, mostly quiet between printing and sleep mode, and somewhat noisy when printing but don’t chalk that up as a complaint. The print output is fantastic. The toner cost per print is above average but as it’s not our primary laser printer, it doesn’t get much of a workout on any given day. For such a small unit, the print speed isn’t bad; grayscale output is a little quicker. I give Ease of Setup 3 stars, perhaps unfairly, but only because the company does not do a good job of updating printer drivers for Mac OS X upgrades–it took K-M not less than a couple of months to put out a beta driver for Snow Leopard (OS X v10.6) after its release by Apple, and figuring out which driver(s) to use/install is somewhat confusing. Anyway we got the beta to work and have not had any problems with it. I would buy one of these again.

Great home office printer for the mixed operating system home.
We run several different operating systems in my house, and getting a printer which can support all of them is a challenge sometimes. This printer fit right in without any trouble. I had the printer unboxed, on the network, and printing from my Linux machine within half an hour, including time to deal with a broken software issue on the Linux machine.

The best bit: because of the Postscript print engine, and Konica-Minolta having the good sense to include Postscript Printer Description (PPD) files, the drivers shipped with the machine worked perfectly on my Linux computer. If you’ve ever set up a Linux printer, you know that just never happens.

If you have a simple network, this printer is probably plug and play. With absolutely no configuration on my part my main desktop was able to connect to the printer and print.

If you buy a network printer though, there’s a good chance that you want to tweak your setup just a little bit. It was really easy to assign a network address of my choosing instead of an automatic address. I entered that address into my name server, and then it was trivial to connect to the printer from any machine on my network, by entering a printer server host of magicolor1650 (the host name I entered in the name server).

It really doesn’t get easier than this. I’ve been setting up home networks for 15 years, and this is the easiest printer installation I’ve ever had. Plug it in, tell the network about it, tell the computers about it, and it just works. That just never happens.

KM abandons you
I actually love my printer- not this model- an older on. BUT- when I upgraded to windows 7 – No was driver available. Not till June. So, although my business has invested over $1000 in toner over the years, plus cost of the printer- they feel no need to support me. It is unrealistic to ask a person to stop all printing at their business for 6 months. Are they trying to force me to throw out my printer and toner and buy a new one?

I am losing time and money, because I chose their product.

I’ve been very loyal to them, but they have no loyalty to me.
